Cardboard for a Cause
Beautiful proxies, freely available, to be enjoyed with exuberance.
As you may be aware, the artist Harold McNeill, who worked on several early Magic: the Gathering sets, is a white supremacist. I won’t go into detail here, but suffice to say that some players, myself included, have grown increasingly uncomfortable with playing cards that use his art over the years. In order to provide an alternative, I’ve assembled a set of proxies (pictured below) with public domain art to serve as replacements for cards illustrated by McNeill. These cards are not represented as authentic Magic cards, and they are not for sale. I am making these cards available free of charge to any Magic player who wants them–all I ask in return is that if you are able to do so, you make a donation of one dollar per card to Black Lives Matter or another racial justice organization of your choice. There is no limit on the number of cards you can have, within reason–request as many as you and your playgroup will use, and I will do my best to get them to you. Just fill out the form below to order the cards you want, or email craw_advantage@fastmail.com if you have any questions. Thanks!
